If you’re getting out of Magic completely, or just looking to trim down your collection, there’s many different ways to sell some (or all) of your Magic cards. The amount of time you are willing to invest will be proportionate to your return. Here’s a few different ways to sell your Magic The Gathering cards:
Take Me To Your Dealer!
The simplest way to sell your Magic cards is to take them to a dealer. Usually you will only get a small fraction of their value, but it’s the fastest way if you need to unload them in a hurry. You can either find a hobby shop that sells Magic singles or find a store online that is looking to buy Magic cards. Another good place to find a dealer would be at a gaming convention or major Magic tournament (such as a PTQ or Grand Prix).
If you’re looking to sell your entire Magic collection locally, Craigslist is a good place to start. It is free to use and you can include pictures too. Make sure to include as much information as possible about your collection: which expansion sets your collection covers, notable cards in the collection, condition of your cards, number of rares, mythic rares, and anything else you can think of!
If you’re a bit more tech-savvy and don’t mind shipping Magic cards, selling some of your Magic singles or lots on eBay is going to give you the best return of all the methods thus far. You can auction your cards, or list them at a fixed price. eBay will charge you a commission for letting you sell on their website, but it is well worth it as you can plug into their global customer base!
Open an Online Store
Does your collection of Magic cards take up an entire room? Maybe it’s time to open up your own online Magic The Gathering store!
