Once you’ve reached level 85, you’re probably itching to get into a raid and get yourself some shiny new purples. However, there are several things you can (and should) do to optimize your character for your first raid. Whether you are just getting started, or looking to improve your character’s raid performance, here are a few general tips for properly preparing your character to be part of a Cataclysm raid group.
When fighting bosses in lower level dungeons, their health will usually drop so fast it won’t matter which abilities you use. Once you reach the higher levels, being able to maximize your DPS during boss fights becomes a lot more important. With the larger health pools of high level dungeon and heroic dungeon bosses, knowing what your cooldowns & procs are – and when to use your cooldowns – will make all the difference in a quick and easy boss kill.
If you play on a high population server and are not in a guild, you have probably received an unsolicited guild invite from someone at one point. While this is an easy way to get into a guild with many guild perks, perhaps you’re not ready to join a guild yet, or simply don’t want to be in a guild. If that’s the case, the good news is that Blizzard has conveniently provided an option for you to block random guild invites.
