Subject: Deck: The "Magic Carpet Ride" Date: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 20:11:07 EDT From: JonPKibble@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com This deck I came up with after seeing Len Blado's work "The Fortress" in Inquest, combined with a red/white deck used by a guy I know at the local card shop. The deck is an engine; use the removal to get rid of stuff, and keep drawing more to remove your opponent. The deck is pretty solid but still needs some tuning, I am open to any suggestions. It is a combo deck in the sense that there is a force which ties all the cards together as one big combo. All of the cards work great in conjuction with each other. I will explain in detail the contents of the deck: 2 Scroll Rack --- part of the engine. combines well with Mulch; put four lands on tap and ancestral yourself +1. 4 Mulch --- get more land, is great with sylvan, gaea's, and scroll rack. 3 Gaea's Blessing --- get back key cards, keep the engine going. use with mulch to feldon's. 2 Sylvan Library --- good with mulch, and get new picks with gaea's. with wisdom you can get life, use life to draw cards, to draw more wisdoms and gaea's, etc. 4 Wrath of God --- need four of these for prime defense. 4 Disenchant --- gets rid of disk, orb, scroll, null brooch if used correctly, and basically anything which causes harm 3 Gerrard's Wisdom --- buy yourself time and slow your opponent's roll. pay life to draw cards with sylvan. 2 Pursuit of Knowledge --- good alone, great with gaea's, excellent with sylvan. 4 Incinerate --- removal/DD. 4 Shock --- more removal/DD. 2 Seismic Assault --- remember those lands you got from mulch? note: it is usually best to hold onto most of your lands in this deck; play undiscovereds if you already have 4 in play that way it can come back to your hand to be used with Scroll Rack, Wisdom, Seismic assault, etc. 2 Savage Twister --- such an underlooked card. Earthquake and hurricane combined without doing damage to yourself. it's like having 2 more wraths in the deck. Only 2 because that is all the deck really needs, I think. Though I could be wrong :/ 2 Memory Lapse --- wonderful surprise card and great way to force through key spells. I play wrath, you counter, I lapse. You lose all your creatures and don't draw another one next turn. 4 Reflecting Pool --- great with all the 'gimplands', you don't have to use up the gemstone or take city damage if you don't need to. 2 City of Brass 2 Undiscovered Paradise 2 Gemstone Mine 3 Forest 4 Mountain 5 Plains "You don't know what we might find, why don't you come with me little girl, on a magic carpet ride" - Steppenwolf Have fun Jon Prywes http://kibble.base.org
